Day of Caring

Visible Change

Each year, hundreds of people improve our region with hands-on work at United Way of Southeastern CT (UWSECT) Day of Caring events.

Added Value

Offered to participating businesses and organizations, Day of Caring is a free service of UWSECT which matches groups of employees with local partner agencies to work on one-time volunteer projects. The program provides valuable free labor to our not-for-profit partners, while the companies and organizations benefit from the staff spirit building and public demonstration of goodwill. Finally, United Way and the larger community benefit as employees visit program sites where their donor dollars are spent and increase their understanding of community needs and services provided.

Unique Results

Our UWSECT Day of Caring program is unique in that it offers year round service with nearly 50 projects annually. From the mundane to the dramatic, projects vary in size and scope and are recognized by agencies as invaluable to their healthy functioning and maintenance. Exterior and interior painting, sorting of food and clothes, construction and repair, mentoring youth, landscaping and more-- each year groups ranging in size from 5 to 50+ donate tens of thousands of dollars worth of labor to our local not-for profit community through the UWSECT Day of Caring program.
