Option #1:

Dear [insert employee name]:

As we begin our United Way campaign, I would like to take a moment to encourage your support. My motivations are both personal and professional. I take comfort in knowing that United Way touches so many people throughout our county -- our families, friends, and co-workers, as well as our customers and their families.

I also know that with United Way in my portfolio, my investment continuously multiplies, and the results could not be better. Through Community Care, United Way of Southeastern Connecticut supports nearly 100 local programs. That's not surprising when you consider the comprehensive range of health and human services addressed by United Way. We all care about issues like hunger, child care, strengthening families and health and wellness. A United Way investment is a great way to be part of the solution -- both meeting the short-term needs and resolving larger community-wide problems.

Last year we raised [insert amount] in our United Way campaign, company-wide. United Way puts those dollars to work, effectively and efficiently investing in our community. Because trained volunteers are an integral part of the system, United Way is able to keep operating costs extremely low.

I am proud of our accomplishments and the impact we have made. Our support taps into the passions and strengths of our community, creating an environment where people come together every day to make our region a better, stronger and more caring community by contributing to United Way.

Thank you.

CEO

Dear [insert employee name]:

At [insert company name], we know that people really want to make a difference. But it takes all of us working together to really impact our community. United Way wants to be our partner.

Every day, people give their time, resources and energy to causes that matter. United Way's Community Care gift-giving option helps focus these efforts to ensure your gift will have long-term impact on specific community needs. They do that be bridging the gaps in services and supporting local agencies that get results.

The best way to help the most people is to identify our community's most serious problems and then focus on the underlying causes of those problems. United Way's Community Care contributions are invested in results-oriented programs and services in New London County that improve lives every day.

We will be kicking off the campaign on [insert date]. Our employee campaign team has put together a series of fun and informative events for us to support. Let's make this the most successful campaign ever! Please join me in giving to United Way and complete the enclosed contribution form.

If you have any questions about the campaign, please contact [insert coordinator name and contact information].

Thank you.

Option #3

To: All Staff

Announcing [insert company name]'s 2006 United Way campaign!

It's your opportunity to get involved and make an impact in our local community. Last year [insert company name] employees raised an incredible [insert amount]. That was matched by the company with a corporate contribution of [insert amount].

This year's goal is [insert amount].

United Way knows that no one agency working alone, no one company working alone, can achieve as much as we all can by working together. United Way enables people to do things they could never do by themselves. No other organization is better positioned to lead this effort.

Your donations to United Way Community Care are invested based on the needs of our community and what matters most to you, the donors. Community Care divides your gift among four United Way priorities: Community Wellness, Thriving Children, Basic Human Needs, and Training & Education for Jobs. Local volunteers determine which results-oriented charitable programs are funded.

By bringing people together from all across the community, we can tackle the issues that matter most. Because we know that each of us can give a little and, working together, that adds up to a lot!

We'll kick things off on [insert date] at [insert location]. Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

CEO
