We are very excited to be partnering with the Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut on a collaborative funding effort to help individuals, families and organizations stuggling to recover and rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, a superstorm that struck our region last October.
The partnership, Our Communities United...Hurricane Sandy & Her Aftermath, was launched last Friday in an event at United Way.
Organizations wishing to apply for a grant, which can also be used for future disaster preparedness, can download an application here: www.uwsect.org/sandyrecovery.
Individuals must call United Way 2-1-1 to find the nearest Recovery Fund Case Manager who will apply on your behalf using United Way's online data management system. These Case Managers have been trained by United Way staff to determine eligibility. 2-1-1 is a free call from anywhere in the state of Connecticut.
Please note that all of this available funding is intended to meet near and longer terms needs that are not covered by insurance or government programs, including FEMA.
