Registration is open for the 2013 Union Community Activist Network (UCAN) training. This is your invitation to become the link between people who need help and the agencies and services that can help. Click here to download a Registration Form.
The four-session class will inform you of all of the services offered for those in need, and how you can help people find them. You will become a strong referral link to your colleagues, friends, neighbors, family members, and others in the community.
Highlights of the class include:
- Eldercare service & options for caregivers;
- Money management & credit counseling services;
- How United Way is making a difference in New London County; and
- Our network of community agencies including Social Security, unemployment compensation, and drug, alcohol and gambling abuse.
UCAN training runs over two weeks, meeting on the following Tuesdays and Thursdays: May 14, 16, 21 and 23 from 6 - 9:00 p.m. Classes are held at United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, 283 Stoddards Wharf Road in Gales Ferry. UCAN graduation takes place on May 30. The cost, including graduation, is $50 per person.
