United Way is Looking for Volunteers!

United Way is looking for volunteers to help serve on its Allocations Panels.  These teams of volunteers help United Way fulfill its mission of changing the community by helping people in need through responsible use of donations.

Allocations volunteers carefully review programs to determine if they create positive change in four key areas: thriving children, promoting independence, community wellness and basic needs. Volunteers then study applications, make site visits, and look at program results and financial records to help determine how United Way funding is effectively and efficiently distributed to local programs throughout New London County.

United Way is seeking individuals from the local community to serve on Allocations Panels Tuesdays at 8:45am or Thursdays at 5:30pm from mid February – May.   Meetings begin the week of February 24th and run through the week of May 12th, each one lasting around two hours. In between meetings, volunteers will be required to read through materials on their own.  There are four breaks during the Allocations cycle so volunteers do not have to commit to every week during this time period.
