United Way is seeking volunteers to assist at the 3rd Annual Eastern Connecticut Walk Against Hunger on Sunday, May 17. The event benefits the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor/Food Center, a program of United Way, and Connecticut Food Bank programs in Eastern CT.
The Walk Against Hunger is a three-mile, non-competitive walk to raise funds for and awareness of hunger-related issues in our community. Individuals and groups are invited to support the Walk by volunteering. Several volunteer opportunities are available including parking attendants and greeters, crossing guards, manning water stations, and clean-up. The Walk begins and ends at Chelsea Parade in Norwich. Registration begins at 1 p.m. and the Walk starts at 2 p.m. Last year, 360 Walk participants and 48 teams helped to raise more than $25,000, and nearly 100 volunteers assisted in the event.
