United Way Day of Caring is an opportunity for your group to get involved in the community by volunteering.
Not only do groups enjoy working together to help one of our nonprofit partner agencies tackle many of their projects, but they are donating tens of thousands of dollars worth of free labor to help offset agency maintenance expenses, thereby helping our partner agencies to keep their costs low so that they can help the most people in need. Projects may include: exterior and interior painting, construction and repair, mentoring youth, landscaping, and more.
There are numerous volunteer projects in conjunction with our Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center as well. We are always in need of volunteers to sort and pack food, check expiration dates, harvest fresh vegetables at local farms, and pack up and unpack the Mobile Food Pantry. Volunteer groups are invited to participate in one of the Mobile Food Pantry distributions that occur throughout the month.
These are just a few examples of United Way Day of Caring projects. In addition, we have many ways that you, your group or company can get engaged with us throughout the entire year from more volunteer opportunities to food, toy, winter coat, and school supply drives.
