On January 27, 2017 United Way of Southeastern Connecticut elected four new board members at its Annual Meeting. They are:
Nancy Cowser is Executive Director of the Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region (seCTer). Nancy was a longtime executive at United Community and Family Services, a United Way partner program. She has experience in both nonprofit and for-profit industries with experience in strategic planning, grant development, legislative affairs, community needs assessment, and businss. She has a master's degree in Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and serves on the Board of Directors for the Noriwch Chamber of Commerce and Arc New London County, a United Way partner program.
Marion Galbraith is the Mayor of the City of Groton. She has been an active volunter with United Way's Mobile Food Pantry in Groton, and is a strong supporter of United Way's workplace campaign. She served on the Groton City Council and is on the Executive Committee of the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Government. Prior to becoming Mayor, Marian taught for 35 years, and she received numerous honors as an educator. She has a PhD from the University of Connecticut.
Jeff Hamilton is Assistant General Manager of Mohegan Sun. He is very active with United Way and our workplace campaign and volunteer efforts. Last year, he was one of the stars of United Way's annual campaign film. Jeff will help launch a "young leaders" group to engage young professionals in the work of United Way.
Nadine McBride is Publisher of The Bulletin newspaper and a longtime supporter of United Way. She has previously served on United Way's Campaign Cabinet. Nadine has experience in finance at St. Bernard School and at The Bulletin prior to becoming Publisher. United Way is fortunate to receive space for a monthly column in The Bulletin written by Virginia L. Mason, President & CEO of United Way of Southeastern Connecticut.
