The Garde Arts Center in New London invited United Way to be part of an exciting live performance of Chef Robert Irvine's show Dinner: Impossible. All day long leading up the evening show, a mobile food pantry truck from Connecticut Food Bank was stationed outside the Garde to collect donations of non-perishable food. The Garde also offered individuals a discount on tickets if they made a food donation.
United Way held a reception prior to the performance during which Chef Irvine himself appeared and urged the crowd to support our work and that of the Gemma E. Moran United Way Labor Food Center. The CT Food Bank was recognized for their longtime support of the Food Center as was Connecticut Light & Power for their donation of our very own mobile food pantry which will soon be delivered and serve those in need in remote areas of New London County with fresh, perishable food.
Thanks to all who made the night special!
