United Way of Connecticut 2-1-1 has been connecting people to vital services in their communities for more than 40 years

National 2-1-1 Day, celebrated on February 11th (2/11) each year, recognizes the more than 200, 2-1-1's located throughout the country. 2-1-1 is a free, confidential information and referral service that connects more than 93 percent of our nation to essential health and human services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year either online or over the phone.

United Way of Connecticut 2-1-1 maintains the largest and most comprehensive database of health and human services in the state. Every day, highly-trained contact specialist help callers find assistance for serious issues such as food insecurity, housing crisis, homelessness, mental health and substance abuse. Contact specialist also connect callers to important services and opportunities including free tax preparation at Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites, budget and financial literacy coaching and volunteer and donation opportunities. With a database of more than 40,000 programs and services, 2-1-1 is the first place Connecticut residents turn to find resources in their communities.

In 2016, 2-1-1 Connecticut helped meet the needs of thousands of Connecticut residents. Our call center received more than 350,000 service requests and more than 1.1 million visits were made to the 2-1-1 website ( which was recently updated to include advanced search features that make finding resources in your community even easier.

2-1-1 Connecticut also launched 2-1-1 Counts ( a tool that provides real-time, searchable and visual presentations of our 2-1-1 call center data. 2-1-1 Counts can be used to establish trends and identify state wide and community specific needs by ZIP Code, region or legislative district. United Way of Connecticut 2-1-1 is continuously striving to better serve Connecticut residents and ensure that community needs are being met.

2-1-1 Connecticut is a free health and human service information and referral service, with a continuously updated database of more than 4,000 agencies and 40,000 programs and services. Free, confidential assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year online at and over the phone by dialing 2-1-1. 2-1-1 Connecticut has organizational accreditations from the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS), and the contact center is certified by the American Association of Suicidology for crisis intervention.
