Volunteer crossing guards needed!

On Sunday, May 18th United Way of Southeastern Connecticut will be hosting the second annual Eastern Connecticut Walk Against Hunger at Chelsea Parade Field in Norwich. The Walk is a three-mile, non-competitive walk to benefit the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, as well as Connecticut Food bank programs in the Windham area. The family-fun walk will begin at Chelsea Parade and wind its way in and around the city of Norwich.

United Way is still looking for a handful of volunteers to help support the Walk by being crossing guards for the event. Volunteers who will be crossing guards should be over the age of 18 and will help assist with foot traffic along the walk route, ensuring the safety of our walkers. Safety vests and training will be provided!

Crossing guards would need to arrive no later than 12:30 on the day of the Walk, lunch and refreshments will be provided. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity please contact Maureen LeBlanc by May 1st at 860-237-3971 or Maureen.leblanc@uwsect.org.

Thank you in advance for considering being a part of this fantastic day!
