The 30th Anniversary celebration for the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Bank took place on October 12, 2018. The event also served as the Campaign Kickoff.
The 2018 AFL-CIO golf Tournament took place on August 27 at Great Neck Country Club in Waterford to benefit our Project Warm-up winter emergency heating assistance program. More than $13,000 was raised for those in need. Special thanks to all of our sponsors and golfers for a great day!

On October 27, 2016 we joined the national Read for the Record effort - the largest one-day shared reading experience. Read for the Record is an initiative of Jumpstart. United Way Volunteer Readers gathered at United Way in the morning for a brief orientation and practice. Then they dispersed throughout New London County to read to nearly 2,000 students at 19 schools in 10 school systems. Many...
United Way friends gathered at our "house" in Gales Ferry to help kick off the 2016 Campaign. Our Board of Directors and Campaign Cabinet volunteers helped cook and serve a festive, harvest-themed lunch complete with hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, potato salad, freshly-made clam chowder, and hot apple cider. The annual AFL-CIO Golf Tournament was held at Great Neck Country Club in Waterford. The event raised $14,100 for Project Warm-up, a program providing one-time, emergency heating assistance for those who do not qualify for other programs or have exhausted other means of support.
