United Way Annual Meeting, new Board members elected

Christopher LaRose of Norwich Public Utilities elected Chair of Board of Directors

United Way of Southeastern Connecticut held its 2023 Annual Meeting at the organization’s office in Gales Ferry. Three local community volunteers were elected to serve on United Way’s Board of Directors.

Additionally, Christopher LaRose, General Manager of Norwich Public Utilities, was elected as Board Chair. LaRose has previously been serving as Chair-Elect. He has been a longtime volunteer for United Way, including serving as Co-chair of the fundraising campaign for two years.UWSECT Board of Directors

“I support United Way because it is an amazing organization that makes a positive impact to our community,” LaRose said. “The Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center, programs, and partner agencies provide essential services, improving the lives of thousands of people in the region.”

The following individuals were also elected to serve on the Board:

  • Dr. Nate Quesnel is Head of School/Superintendent of Norwich Free Academy. The school collaborates closely with United Way on New Capacities to prepare students for post-graduation. Quesnel has been instrumental in reinvigorating the school’s United Way Campaign, which exceeded its goal this past year.
  • Jerry Renaud is the Chief Steward of Carpenters Union Local 1302. He is the Chair of this year’s General Dynamics-Electric Boat Employees’ Community Services Association United Way Campaign.
  • Community volunteer, Nikki Gullickson, who had served on the Board of Directors previously from 2016-2022 including several years as Secretary. She has remained on the organization’s Governance Committee since 2016.
