United Way Virtual Reading Day is back! To celebrate Black History Month in February and Women’s History Month in March, we are asking our virtual readers to choose a book that features a protagonist of color or a female protagonist. Need some ideas? There’s a suggested list of titles attached. We are taking our reading online and asking readers to record a video of themselves reading.

Reading Day Details:
Date: February 22-March 12, 2021
Location: Your choice! Read at home, in your office, or in a fun location that correlates to the story you’ve chosen.
What you’ll do: record yourself reading a children’s book using your phone/tablet/computer and upload it so that United Way can create a YouTube playlist of different stories to share with local schools, teachers, and parents.

More about the event:
- A copy of your chosen book can be purchased and then donated to a United Way partner agency. Send us the book at 283 Stoddards Wharf Road, Gales Ferry, CT 06335.
- Volunteers indicate on the registration form if they have an idea for a book they’d like to read or if they would like suggestions. Please remember to choose a book that features either a protagonist of color or a female protagonist.
- Would you like to read in Spanish? We’re looking for dual-language readers!
