Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor
Join us four times a year in community-wide volunteer events to support service projects and make a difference in the lives of families in New London County. Become a sponsor or a volunteer - or both! Each opportunity has meaningful benefits.
Each Day of Caring project brings together 30-50 volunteers to create a positive impact for nonprofits helping our neighbors in need. Sponsorships provide grants for materials and other project expenses to each agency hosting a project.
United Way focuses on connecting people to causes they care about and helping businesses reach their goals around philanthropic giving, employee engagement and community involvement. If you would like to become a sponsor, please contact Rebecca Reutlinger, Vice President of Resource Development.
The deadline for sponsorship confirmation is November 8, 2025 in order to be included on the tshirts.

Covenant Shelter of New London & Church of the City Community Meals – November 20, 2024
This combined Day of Caring event will give a much-needed update to both Covenant Shelter of New London and Church of the City Community Meals. Covenant Shelter of New London is the only shelter in Southeastern Connecticut that serves families. Their goal through this Day of Caring partnership is to transform all six family rooms into a more appealing, homey, and comfortable environment for their guests primarily through painting and cleaning. Church of the City provides meals to the community every Saturday with the ability to serve up to 250 people. Their goal for this partnership is to paint the industrial sized kitchen, dining hall, and hallways to create a warmer and more welcoming environment for their guests. These projects will occur simultaneously at two locations on November 20 with shifts available at Covenant Shelter and Church of the City.
East Lyme Giving Garden – April 1, 2015
At the East Lyme Giving Garden Day of Caring, volunteers will be planting vegetables including carrots, broccoli, potatoes, onions, and cabbage. They will also assist in installing weed fabric, drip tape, high profile hoops, and trellises for pole beans. All activities will increase the garden’s capacity to produce vegetables for the upcoming season. The East Lyme Giving Garden donates all produce to the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center.
SCADD – May 6, 2025
SCADD provides quality treatment services to people seeking recovery. SCADD clients and patients can access services at multiple locations including the four locations in New London. This Day of Caring event will task volunteers with working with the SCADD team to beautify the outside space at each of the four properties to enhance the experience of the clients and the community. Activities will include building garden beds and planting to provide clients and the community with a local source of fresh vegetables and herbs, as well as making the space more inviting for clients.
Safe Futures – June 12, 2025
Safe Futures will be working with Day of Caring volunteers to update the inside and outside of their Genesis House program location. Genesis House Emergency Domestic Violence Shelter is the only shelter of its type to serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and trafficking in Southeastern Connecticut. The program location is confidential, as per Connecticut General Statue (C.G.S.) Chapter 138b, Section 8-360. After a renovation to make the Genesis House location more accessible, it will need painting, deep cleaning, reorganizing, and outside landscaping. There will be an opportunity to build raised garden beds, plant, and clean and paint the inside of the shelter.
