The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, coordinating through its online gaming and entertainment company WONDR NATION®, today announced its partnership with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, a vital network of local health and human service programs and initiatives in the state of Connecticut. Through this initiative, WONDR NATION will serve as the presenting sponsor of the year-long Day of Caring program, which launched the first event at the Saint Vincent de Paul Place in New London County, CT on September 26, 2023.

Employees of Wondr Nation volunteering at Day of CaringAs part of this inaugural initiative, WONDR NATION’s volunteers proudly helped the Saint Vincent de Paul Place with much-needed projects like the creation of a new Welcome Center and Serving Line at the Norwich location, deep cleaning efforts in the kitchen and dining areas, and assisting in serving lunch. The Saint Vincent DePaul Place provides critical services to the community, including access to a Food Pantry, served meals, dining facilities, and case managers to assist clients in accessing essential benefits. This community giveback effort furthers WONDR NATION’s commitment to community involvement and social impact.

“We are truly honored to partner with the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut to make a tangible difference in our community,” said Anika Howard, President and CEO of WONDR NATION. “We strongly believe in investing in our local area, so we were elated to be on the ground yesterday actively helping the Saint Vincent De Paul Place team and we look forward to the upcoming initiatives that help to improve local Connecticut communities.”

For each quarterly Day of Caring, the United Way of Southeastern Connecticut brings together 30-50 volunteers to create a positive impact for nonprofits helping our neighbors in need. “We are grateful to work with WONDR NATION, which shares our commitment to advancing, elevating and investing in our community,” said Dina Sears-Graves, President and CEO of United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. “We were heartened to see the pride and enthusiasm the WONDR NATION team had during the Saint Vincent de Paul Place Day of Caring and could see how seriously they care about their social impact initiatives. We look forward to working with the team on upcoming quarterly projects.”

Known for bringing best-in-class gaming experiences and emerging technologies to players, WONDR NATION continues to innovate within the industry through its forward-thinking strategies for providing immersive, educational STEM resources and business networking opportunities to the area. Earlier this year, WONDR NATION sponsored The Artisan Entrepreneur Symposium at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center to empower local entrepreneurs and conducted its signature WONDR Lab’s STEM-focused learning program for tribal youth, among many other community-focused initiatives.

“Community engagement is an integral part of our tribe's values and, by extension, WONDR NATION's core principles,” said Tribal Chairman Rodney Butler. “We are proud to support our local United Way chapter and its critical initiatives that carry out our shared mission of making a difference in the lives of individuals and families in Connecticut."

"I can't emphasize enough the pride we take in this partnership. It's not just about supporting our community; it's about fostering connections that build a stronger, more compassionate Connecticut," said Michele Scott, Tribal Councilor and United Way of Southeastern Connecticut Board Member. ”WONDR NATION's commitment to community engagement aligns seamlessly with the local United Way’s vision for a thriving and interconnected region. Together, we are not only effecting change today but also laying the foundation for a more promising tomorrow."
