Every family in Southeastern Connecticut deserves access to affordable, high-quality care.

With over 40 partner organizations the SECT Childcare Collective is addressing our regional childcare needs by focusing on:

  • Increasing the accessibility and affordability of early care
  • Creating sustainable innovations
  • Enhancing and strengthening the early care and education workforce

Families will have increased access to high-quality, affordable childcare so they can work or pursue school opportunities and build financial stability to provide for their families.

Businesses will have a more vibrant childcare sector to enable a stable workforce.

Children will be better prepared for school, leading to more opportunities in life and safeguarding the success of the future workforce.

In Southeastern Connecticut:

  • ALICE families spend 27% of their income on childcare.
  • There is a 41% gap between family demand and childcare capacity.
  • The gap between state reimbursement and cost of care each month is $600.
  • Over 900 new educators are needed to close the early childcare workforce gap.
