United Way provides surprise grants totaling $220,000 to nonprofits

Grateful for their work in the community and their partnership with United Way, and recognizing that 2025 has provided new challenges, we are pleased to announce that twenty-two nonprofit organizations in the region received an additional $10,000 grant each.

Partner programs are at the core of United Way's work, providing a vital safety net of services, however, they are seeing significant instability and uncertainty in Federal and State funding. These funds from United Way may be used to serve whatever emergent needs are facing their organization.

“More and more people in our community are struggling and United Way recognizes that our nonprofits are also feeling increased pressure to do more with less. We recognize them and we hope these funds can help them continue delivering high-impact services that change lives,” says Dina Sears-Graves, President & CEO.

Organizations receiving grants are: Alliance for Living, The Arc Eastern Connecticut, Catholic Charities, Child & Family Agency, Connecticut Legal Services, Covenant Shelter of New London, Drop-in Learning Center, Higher Edge, Jewish Federation of Eastern CT, The Light House, Madonna Place, Martin House, New London Homeless Hospitality Center, Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center, Riverfront Children’s Center, Safe Futures, SCADD, Thames River Community Services, TVCCA, UCFS Healthcare, UCP of Eastern CT, and Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern CT.
